A Few Good Reasons For Women to Start Small Business Franchises

Only 50 years ago, not a single female was to be found in the world of big business (other than reception and administrative roles) but today, roughly half of all American business management positions are held by women, according to the Labor Dept, and the Center for Women’s Business Research claims that about 40% of all privately owned firms are run by women. What business professionals and market analysts have both been realizing over the last few years is that this influx of women to the marketplace has great influence on business, the economy, and the growth of our nation as a whole.

On the surface, just the ins and outs of daily business, analysts have found an abundance of factors that make women at least equal to their male counterparts in the ways that they manage their businesses. A study of business executives conducted in 2000 revealed that employers, coworkers, and subordinates all rated female executives higher on a basic performance evaluation than they did male executives. According to a 2000 BusinessWeek article titled “As Leaders, Women Rule,” the researchers stumbled onto the findings entirely by accident, as part of an ordinary performance review that initially had no intent to find gender trends. The results that they found, though, confirmed what businesspeople had long been saying: women are more collaborative, more communicative, and less prone to egotism than their male counterparts. What it all boils down to is that the average woman in business is more likely to pursue the benefit of the company over personal gain or bravado.

That is one of the many reasons that it is such a good idea for women to start small business franchise: they’re wired to succeed in different ways than men. Though a franchise like INTERIORS by Decorating Den is designed to provide greater opportunity for success than any other kind of startup business, it is still vital to the success of the operation that the franchisee lay her own ego down for the good of the business, whether that means calling on others for design help or admitting to clients when an order has been delayed and offering a discount in order to keep the client’s business.

Especially when it comes to home based businesses, clients very much like a business owner who maintains frequent, honest communication with them about the status of the job. Though a Blue Coast Financial Group franchisee could potentially see things only in terms of dollars and cents, the financial success of a client’s business is very personal to the client. Therefore, a helpful female Blue Coast Financial Group owner who can communicate person-to-person instead of business-to-business, putting herself in a position to help the client and not simply profit from a transaction, is of great assistance. As a whole, women are just better at seeing people rather than merely seeing tasks.

Interestingly enough, although managerial women in corporate America are sometimes held in higher regard than men, they still often do not ascend to upper-executive positions within their corporations. Some hold that this is because women, despite having the same business degrees as the men, are often set on career tracks that don’t have direct access to the higher echelons of the business world; frequently finding themselves in Human Resources or Public Relations, they get stuck beneath a glass ceiling.

However, with the business opportunities that a work at home franchise can provide, that ceiling doesn’t have to hang over a female entrepreneur. Though a Glove Lady or CompuChild franchise business may not grow into a nationally acclaimed corporate giant, the female franchisee is always at the helm, and that means that she determines how many employees she has, how the business is run (within franchisor standards, of course), and what roles she plays within its daily operations. And with such entrepreneurial experience as the CEO of her own business, should she ever decide to move into the corporate realm, she will have the experience to step out of HR and PR into more executive positions, because she has proven to have a knack for running a successful company.

According to a study in The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2000, adding to the number of female-owned firms is vital to the growth of the American economy, and ultimately, America’s population. From a study of 21 nations around the world, their conclusion was that increased entrepreneurism is the biggest boost to any national economy, and economy is the single most important factor in population growth. And being that fewer women are entrepreneurs than men, getting the number of female business owners up is a prime method of building both the economy and the population.

This is based on 226 product items in 14 categories and a grand total of 15,500 individual purchases. On a dollar purchase basis for these same items, females accounted for 44% of the total.
* On both a purchase unit and dollar spending basis, women were by far the highest in overall categories such as wall/window/ceiling/floor coverings, major household appliances and kitchen & bathroom remodeling.

The numbers do not lie, more women then men start-up new businesses and successfully run existing small businesses every year. In fact they have a nearly 75% better chance of succeeding in their business ventures then men do. One of the best ways to ensure this success is to seek out and receive one of the many government grants for women in business.

Why are grants for women in business a good idea? To answer that question lets look at how most small business are started and financed. Most entrepreneurs will go to their local bank and take out a business line of credit, usually putting their home up as collateral. The second choice is to find someone or a group who is willing to invest in the idea with cash up-front.

For the woman who owns a small business this can create an inordinate amount of stress having this debt hanging over her head. And in the case of putting personal property up as collateral, if the business fails she stands a good chance of losing her home along with her failed business.

Small business grants for women are not subject to repayment. That’s right, once you have the grant you are not required to pay it back which can make starting and running a business much easier. This gives the woman business owner the opportunity to concentrate on growing her business without worrying about paying back any money she may have borrowed. It is important to use the money for what it was intended for otherwise there is a risk of being censured and even penalized to the point that you can be black listed from receiving government business grants.

Here are four quick tips to help find and receive grants for women owned businesses.

1. Use the Internet – The are a abundance of websites that will help you not only find government grants that meet your specific needs they also provide the necessary information you need to successfully apply for and receive this free money.

2. Research – Be sure to thoroughly research each grant and granting agency to find out what their requirements are. There literally grants available for just about everything, from starting a business to paying for college so it is important to target those that meet your goals.

3. Have a Business Plan – This can be one of the most important parts of applying for a business grant for women. This is your road map for success and any grant giving institution will want to see one.

4. Hire an Accountant or Attorney – Getting professional help from someone who is schooled in the world of applying for government grants can pay big dividends. It may cost up front but this cost can be worth thousands of dollars in successful grant requests.

Every year the government gives away millions of dollars in grants for women in business. What better way to start a new business or grow an existing business then with free money that leaves you free to concentrate on making money.

Leadership, The Quality That You Should Attract By The Law of Attraction

What comes into your mind when we talk about leader? Not many people think about leadership if they do not work for a company. They normally think of leadership as a sign of authority. In their mind, leadership exists only in the organizations that require ranking. For example, they think of being leader in the government offices such as solider, police etc. As a matter of fact, this is not totally correct. People have to be leader of their lives if they want to have good and successful lives. Without leadership in mind, ones need to follow others. That is not healthy for their future.

When we can master how we lead our lives, we will feel enormous power within ourselves. The power that will bring us the sense of self actualization is what we should aim for. With this power, we will attract the situation that requires us to demonstrate more and more leadership potential. According to the law of attraction, the more you focus on being a good leader, the more chance that you will learn leadership skill from various situations. The point is how to develop the basic leadership skill. Before you practice the skill, you need to understand the five basic qualities that a leader must have.

The five qualities that most leaders have are the following:

1. Integrity and Trustworthy

Good leader must be a person that others can trust. He does what he has said. There is an Asian proverb that “Once the king says something, he would definitely honor his words without drawing them back.” We should do the same. Make ourselves trustworthy by honoring our words. Leader must be reliable for all responsibilities that he takes care of.

2. Care

Leader cares a lot about his people. He will not hesitate to provide his best effort for the group’s interest. He does thing because he cares about them. Leader show love and care to their people without prejudice. His people will do what the leader says if they truly believe that their leader has care for them.

3. Intellect

We can not lead the group or our own life blindly. We need to effectively learn how to lead our lives. This involves in having enough knowledge to do things correctly. We need to learn a lot to become a good leader. If we study well enough, we will find that most good leader is a good reader. This means that the good leader believe in continuing their education all the time. You should practice the same method.

4. Courage

Leader has to be able to face difficult situation. He has to be able to overcome his fear no matter if it is the fear of failure or fear of rejection. He must be the first one to come forward and face difficulty when tough time comes. In ancient time, the leader must be the first one in the troop to lead the battle. That is why they called him leader. He dares to risk his own benefit for the sake of the group’s viability.

5. Discipline

People are judged by their actions. We need to take actions to make what we want happens. However, effective actions normally come with continuing efforts. That requires discipline. Discipline is one of the most crucial attributes for success. Leader has discipline and be a good example by showing his people how we conduct his daily life with high discipline.

Being a leader is not only by your title, rank or position. Being a good leader has a lot to do with your qualities. In this article, we talks about those qualities and how to apply it with the law of attraction.
